Welcome to NewsNow Xtended

Welcome to NewsNow Xtended, the brand new, updated version of NewsNow. The site has some exciting new features...

Expanded range and depth of newsfeed topics

Thanks to the improved navigation system, we've been able to expand the number of newsfeeds available nearly threefold. So with more than 2,000 newsfeeds, now there's something for everyone!

Advanced navigation system

There are now three ways to get to the news you want:

  • Use the popup menus to browse the list of available newsfeeds, and click on the name of a newsfeed to go there. Note that some sections (eg 'Current Affairs') are also newsfeeds, so you can click on the section name to jump to the newsfeed.
  • When viewing a newsfeed, click on one of the links under 'See Also' to go to a related newsfeed.
  • Use the site search facility to search for matching newsfeeds and articles. You can use more than one word when searching.

Multi-word headline search

You can now search for headlines for more than one word, and search for phrases by enclosing them in double quotes.

My Most Viewed

NewsNow keeps track of the newsfeeds you view, and presents you with a list of the ones you use the most, so you can easily jump straight to them. Up to ten newsfeeds are listed. Note that the information about the feeds you visit is stored on your computer, not on NewsNow's servers - please see our privacy policy.

My Recently Read

Similarly, every time you click on an article, it appears in the box under 'My Recently Read', so you can easily go back to an article later. Up to ten articles are listed.

Tabbed browsing support

The new version of the site is compatible with tabbed browsers: click on 'Use tabs', and follow the instructions to configure your web browser to open new articles in a new tab instead of popping up a new window.

Font style controls

Use the 'Smaller titles' and 'Larger titles' links to change the size of the font used to display headlines. Click on 'Bold titles'/'Non-bold titles' to toggle using a bold typeface for headlines.

Show/hide blogs

You can toggle the inclusion of blogs in newsfeeds on and off by clicking on 'Hide blogs' and 'Show blogs'.
