Press Release
NewsNow hits milestone with database of 10,000 sources
June 17th 2003
NewsNow.co.uk has become the first European online news monitoring
service to provide non-stop searching of 10,000 online news sources.
NewsNow chief executive Nick Gilbert said: "This is a milestone for
NewsNow. A superb achievement that demonstrates our commitment to
providing the most comprehensive online news coverage possible. Roll
on 20,000 sources."
NewsNow benefits from a dedicated publishing search team and
nominations from many of the 1.7m regular users to its free news
portal. Each potential source is checked for quality and credibility
before being accepted into the database.
"We are getting a huge demand for inclusion now that NewsNow has a
worldwide reputation and English and foreign-language sites around the
world want to attract NewsNow users. About half our new sources are
publishers contacting us direct to be included. They have heard about
us and know the value of having their publication in our search
database," said Bruno Salmi, NewsNow Publisher Relations
Manager.
"Our team of source programmers does a great job dealing with the
demands of sites requesting inclusion and that of our sales team which
drives the internal search for suitable sources to add to the
database. At present, we are processing around 1000 sources per month.
Hopefully, we will reach our target of 20,000 within twelve
months."
"There's an immense feeling of satisfaction, not only in seeing our
database grow as fast as it is, but also from the feedback we receive
from publishers, many of whom come to rely on NewsNow as their main
driver of traffic. It's particularly satisfying when we help smaller
publishers with quality editorial raise their profile and compete for
eyeballs with the larger, brand-name publishers."
NewsNow is receiving requests for inclusion from publishers worldwide.
Recent additions include publications in Bulgaria, Denmark, France,
Germany, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Italy, Malta, New Zealand, Norway,
Pakistan, Spain, Turkey, USA. New publications include: Novinite
(Bulgaria), Asia Times Online, The Kashmir Telegraph, National
Business Review (New Zealand), Aftenposten (Norway), Times (Pakistan),
Chesterton Tribune (USA).
